Types of dental dentures

Posted .

Their are two main categories of dentures, complete dentures and partial denturs. Complete dentures are used to replace all the teeth in an arch whereas partial dentures are used to replace only one or a couple missing teeth to fill in gaps. The diffent types of dentures are, removable, fixed, immediate dentures or overdentures. Removable dentures are attached using full suction or clasps, Fixed ones are supported by dental implants, immediate dentures are placed after extractions, and overdentures use natural teeth or implants for support.

Full dentures are used when all of the teeth in the lower or upper jaw need to be replaced, they are held in place by the natural suction to the gums and the tissue of the mouth’s roof. the two dffrent types of dentures are immediate dentures (fitted right after teeth are extracted, serving as a temporary solution during the healing process) or conventional dentures (placed after the gums and jaw tissues have healed following tooth extraction).

Partial dentures are used to replace on or more missing teeth while some natural teeth remain. The partial dentures are held in place using a metal or acrylic clasp that is attached to the nerby teeth. There are 5 diffrent types of partial dentures. Their are Cast metal clasp removable dentures, acrylic clasp removable partial dentures, flexible dentures, fixed bridge demtures and implant-supported fixed bridge. If you are wondering which one is the best, there really isn’t a single best option all each of these have their on purpose depending on the health of your remaining teeth.
