Signs You Might Need Your Wisdom Teeth removed

Your wisdom tooth is growing, and you are unsure about whether to get it removed or not. There are some signs you may want to get it removed or at least come in for a check-up with your family dentist. You might need wisdom tooth removal if you have pain, swelling, jaw stiffness, bad taste/breath, or trouble brushing near the back molars. You feel your top tooth coliding with the wisdom tooth, infection, crowding, cavities, or cysts, which can also cause headaches or earaches.

Some signs that you may want to get it removed are constant or sporadic pain in the back of your jaw, which might worsen when chewing or opening your mouth. Gums around the teeth become inflamed, red or bleed easily. An unpleasant taste or persistent bad breath due to trapped food and bacteria. Difficulty Cleaning: Hard-to-reach spots make brushing and flossing difficult, leading to decay. A dull ache or stiffness in your jaw, potentially radiating to your ears or causing headaches. Food gets stuck between the wisdom tooth and the gum. Teeth stuck under the gum or growing at an angle. Wisdom teeth pushing other teeth out of alignment, damaging them. Bacteria thrive in gum pockets around erupting teeth. Fluid-filled sacs forming around the tooth, potentially harming roots.

What you should do once you notice your wisdom tooth has started to grow is schedule an appointment with your family dentist so that they can get an X-ray of the state of your tooth.
