Why dentists wear masks during appointments

Posted .

When you go to the dentist, one of the first things you notice is that everyone is wearing masks. Dentists wear masks because they work really close to patients’ mouths all day, so it helps stop germs from spreading.

When people talk, cough, or sneeze, tiny droplets can go into the air without anyone noticing. Since dentists are sitting so close while working, masks help protect both the patient and the dental staff.

Masks also help stop bacteria from spreading onto tools or surfaces during a treatment. Even if someone feels healthy, they can still carry germs, which is why masks are important during every appointment.

A lot of people became more aware of this after COVID 19, but dentists were already using masks before because infection control has always been a big part of dentistry.

At our office, masks are part of the steps we follow to help keep patients safe and comfortable during their visit. You can book with Dr. Abid Hidayat, we’re open Monday to Saturday. We also speak Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, and Arabic. You can call 416 546 5599 if you want to book or ask anything.
