How germs spread through touching surfaces

Posted .

Germs can spread really easily through surfaces, even if you don’t notice it happening. In a dental office, a lot of people touch the same things every day, so this is something that has to be taken seriously.

For example, if someone touches a chair, door handle, or dental light, they can leave germs behind. Then another person touches the same spot and picks up those germs without realizing it. This is called indirect spread, and it happens more than people think.

The tricky part is that you can’t always see germs on surfaces. A chair or counter might look clean, but it can still have bacteria or viruses on it if it hasn’t been disinfected properly.

That’s why dental staff clean surfaces after every patient. Even small things like switches and handles get wiped down because they are touched so often.

Good hand hygiene also helps stop this. If people wash their hands or use sanitizer regularly, it lowers the chance of spreading germs from surfaces to other places.

At our office, we make sure all surfaces are cleaned between patients so everything stays safe and comfortable. You can book with Dr. Abid Hidayat, and we’re open Monday to Saturday. We also speak Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, and Arabic. If you want to book or ask anything, you can call 416 546 5599.
