Has your dentist informed you that you may be experiencing periodontal disease? You may have lost the gums that support your teeth and the bone that holds our teeth in place may also be impacted. Though the bone loss cannot be grown back, you can prevent it from getting worse.
The bass brushing technique is used for clients with periodontal disease. It helps stimulate the
gums and clean thoroughly around the gumline to prevent further damage. Remember to use a
a soft bristle toothbrush as a hard bristle toothbrush can cause irritation or further damage.
Step 1:
Hold the toothbrush horizontally, 45 degrees towards the gumline.
Step 2:
Gently vibrate the toothbrush 10 times on each spot, ensuring to cover all teeth.
Step 3:
You can modify this method by then swiping the brush downward towards the crown of your
Tooth.
Step 4:
Scrub your biting surfaces as usual.
Step 5:
Hold the heel of your toothbrush to the backside of your front teeth. Gently swipe down.
Use this method to thoroughly clean all areas of our teeth and prevent further damage to your gums and bone.
