What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) 

The Canadian Dental care plan is an insurance program aimed at helping pay the cost of dental care to eligible Canadian residents including refugees. The Canadian government recently announced their expansion so all eligible Canadians aged 18 to 64 will be able to apply for in May 2025. 

Who is eligible? 

To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet all four of these requirements: 

  1. You don’t have access to dental insurance 
  2. You and your spouse/common-law-partner (if applicable) must have filed your tax returns in Canada so that your family income can be assessed for the previous year
  3. Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000
  4. You’re a Canadian resident for tax purposes

What services are covered?  

CDCP will help pay a poriton of the cost for various dental services like: 

  1. Diagnostic and preventitive services (eg. cleanings, x-rays)

2.Basic services (eg. fillings, endodontic treatment, periodontal services) 

  1. Major services (eg. crowns, dentures)
  2. Anesthesia (eg. general anaesthesia)
