Dental Bonding

Dental bonding involves your family dentist applying a tooth-coloured composite resin to a tooth, shaping it to correct issues like chips, cracks, or gaps, and then hardening it with a special light. The procedure uses an etching solution to help the resin adhere, and the final result is a polished, natural-looking tooth. This noninvasive process can enhance your smile by improving the size, shape, and colour of your teeth.

The dental bonding procedure:

Tooth preparation: The dentist will prepare the tooth by buffing and etching its surface to create a roughened area for the resin to bond to,

Applying the resin: A tooth-coloured composite resin is applied to the tooth in layers.

Sculpting and hardening: The dentist shapes and molds the resin to the correct form. A curing light is then used to harden each layer of the material.

Finishing: After the final layer is hardened, the dentist will shape and polish the resin to create a smooth, natural looking surface that matches the surrounding teeth.

Common uses for dental bonding:

    Repairing chipped or cracked teeth

    Closing gaps between teeth

    Correcting discoloration

Changing the size or shape of teeth, or lengthening them

Filling small areas of tooth decay
