What more is there to know about this dental plan?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), launched by the federal government in December 2023, is a public program intended to remove financial barriers that many Canadians have while seeking dental health care.

The CDCP is being carried out in stages, and the application process is following suit. As of March 2024, only senior Canadian residents aged 70 and up can apply for dental coverage under the plan. However, the program will soon expand to additional qualifying Canadians, according to the following schedule:

  • Seniors aged 65-69 can apply starting May 2024.
  • Adults with valid Disability Tax Credit and Children under the age of 18 can apply starting in June 2024.
  • All other eligible Canadians can apply starting in 2025.

It is important that you return to the CDCP’s website on a regular basis to be informed about the application timetable, service growth and application status. It is a key step in improving access to dental care for many Canadians. THE SMILE TEAM is excited about the potential benefits this plan can provide for our patients.
