The role of hygiene in preventing the spread of disease

Posted .

Hygiene is a really big part of keeping people from getting sick, especially in a dental office. Since dentists are working so close to patients all the time, even small things can make a difference when it comes to germs spreading.

Something as simple as washing hands properly already helps a lot. If hands aren’t clean, germs can easily move from one person to another without anyone even noticing. That’s why dental staff always wash their hands before and after every patient and change their gloves each time.

It’s not just about hands, though. Tools and surfaces have to be cleaned really carefully, too. If something isn’t disinfected properly, bacteria can stay on it and then spread to the next patient. That’s why everything around the chair gets wiped down after every visit, even the parts people don’t really pay attention to.

Hygiene basically helps stop germs from moving around. It lowers the chances of people getting sick and keeps the whole place safer for everyone.

At our office, we take this seriously because we want patients to feel comfortable when they come in. You can book a visit with Dr. Abid Hidayat, and we’re open Monday to Saturday. We also speak Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, and Arabic so it’s easier for different patients. If you ever need to book or ask something, you can call 416-546-5599.
